Gas Panic is a nightclub (actually two nightclubs) in Tokyo. One of the requirements of being in the place is that you must drink continually as long as you are inside, to the point that if you put your drink down somewhere, the staff will take it away and make you buy another one.
Here we see Joanne dutifully obeying this rule.
I hung out with my American friends at Gas Panic from 1987-89, while I was stationed in Yokosuka. It used to be a basic bar as you walk in, then you round the corner about 30 feet back to to the right, and there was a room about 20ft. X 20ft. with bleachers going up the walls, and we would drink Corona’s one after the other, and spend a fortune in this really cool hangout. The music was loud and great. Would even take requests back then. Smiths, Ramones, Jesus and Mary Chain, Cure, were the staples of the day. Good times. Good times.
