Every year, people say, "Gosh! This year has simply flown by; it doesn't feel like 12 months since last year." After all these years, why are they still surprised at how fast time passes? Why have they not yet learned how long a year feels?
(One possibility is that time is in fact speeding up. That possibility is terrifyingly confusing and will be dealt with in future thoughts.)
(Perhaps I should also mention that I too am usually guilty of this. For many reasons, though, this year is an exception.)
