It’s not always easy finding the best web hosting provider for your websites, so I thought I would recommend the web host company I use. I set up my first website in 1996, and since then I have used several website hosting companies. Initially, I evaluated them based only on features and price. However, a couple of years ago my old web host had a system crash, and incredibly had no recent backups. I had my own local backups, fortunately, but I did lose some email. I immediately started searching around for a new web host, and settled on Lunarpages because they had everything I needed at a reasonable price. I thought I should write a little Lunarpages review to help you evaluate the many options for web hosting. (Note that if you sign up with Lunarpages through these links, I will earn a commission — so thanks in advance for supporting Semicolon.)
The main thing that attracted me to Lunarpages was their excellent support — I have used their “online community” extensively, but they also have tutorials, a knowledge base and email support.
Their features are very good too. Mostly I use PHP, MySQL and Apache of course — these are required to run WordPress. Lunarpages use the excellent CPanel administration interface — this gives you email configuration, web mail, subdomains, statistics, shopping cart, database administration, and about a zillion other things. Lunarpages even provide a pre-installed WordPress installation so you don’t need to download and install it. Of course, advanced users (like me :)) can install their own packages — I use several separate installations of WordPress, as well as a heap of home-grown software. The only big feature they don’t offer is shell access. Initially I was doubtful about this, but I have found that I don’t need it — CPanel’s File Manager does everything I need.
Overall I am very happy with Lunarpages. They have all the technical features I need at a good price, and they have been very responsive and helpful. I certainly plan to use them for my future web hosting needs.
Lunarpages do get great reviews throughout the web but that is partially due to their service and secondly due to their generious affiliate program
True, their affiliate program seems good — but after several months nobody has yet signed up through my affiliate link, so it hasn’t done me any good at all. 🙂
As I said, the best endorsement I can give is that I am a satisfied Lunarpages customer. Feel free to ask any questions about my Lunarpages experience in the comments here.
I just wanted to let you know I’m signing up w/lunarpages though your affiliate link after reading several reviews on them and saw you comment about it not working out for you ,
Thanks fo the review
It’s an remarkable post in favor of all the online viewers;
they will obtain advantage from it I am sure.
