It&#8217;s setting up a working group to report on possible new measures, such as the recently proposed <a href=\"\/japan\/live-in-japan\/smart-alien-registration-cards\/\">smart ID cards<\/a>. The government says this is part of a crime and terrorism prevention strategy. They expect to be able to revise the registration laws in 2007.<\/p>\n<p>The group will not be focused just on adding restrictions.
