Scoba: The company does the paperwork, with some input from you. In most cases I know of, the company deals with immigration and tells you what information and documents you need to supply.

As for caregivers, I am not sure. I think there are probably organisations in the Philippines that may be able to help — your relative in Japan may have some information.

Ching Li, the requirements for tourist visas depend on where you’re visiting Japan from. You shuld contact a Japanese embassy in your home country to find out what the requirements are.

    Hi!
I am working in Japan on an Irish passport, one-year working visa.
My visa expires on the 1st of April. If I go to Korea and come back on the 1st april, can I come back on a normal 90-day tourist visa? If I was coming directly from ireland this would be ok, I am just wondering if coming back to the country on THE ACTUAL DAY the visa expires is ok? I have already booked flights… :/ I only want to come back for 3 weeks, not working.
    thanks for any help.

Cait, in theory your plan should cause no problem. In practice, it might look a little suspicious to leave at the end of your work visa and then come back in “just for a holiday”. Make sure you have your plane ticket out of Japan to prove that you’re only staying for three weeks.

Note that your work visa will be cancelled when you leave for Korea anyway, unless you have a re-entry permit. To be clear, you could ask them to cancel your work visa when you leave. That’s a suggestion but not a recommendation.

Hey, I am a native English speaker from the US who is planning to move to Japan after I get my bachelors degree in a few months. My girlfriend lives in Osaka and her father is willing to serve as my guarantor, but I will still need to find a language school to sponsor a working visa.

If I come over on a 90 day tourist visa, armed with a university degree, CELTA certification, a Japanese guarantor and a letter of recommendation, are my chances of finding a job and visa sponsor in the Osaka-Kyoto-Kobe area good? I dont have all that much money; I hope to avoid having to fully drain my savings, being forced to leave the country and never finding a job. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi Bennett,
Now I am holding Dependent Visa and I can work 28 hours/week. I have applied some jobs but always unlucky because the employer wants the people who can work more than 28 hours/week.

    The question is
”In case I got a job and it possible to change visa status from dependent visa to be work visa?” and ”how long the process will take”?

Thank you so much.I really appreciate your website.

    Hello

Just a quick one re. work visa. I was previously in Japan on working visas. Before I returned to my native Australia, I think I may have left some prefectural taxes unpaid (“living taxes”?). Will this mitigate against any future application I (or future employer) might make for a work visa? I am more than happy to settle the debt, but am unsure how to go about it from this end.
