João, if you are married to a work visa holder you can get a dependent visa, and then apply for permission to work part-time.
Karen, the fact that your mother was a Japanese citizen probably won’t really help, but your work experience and your fluent Japanese will. I don’t know much about private visa sponsorship, but perhaps you could get a family member in Japan to look at that. I think you’d have a decent chance at an employer-sponsored visa — try contacting some headhunters.
Hello Bennet,
I am a 23 year old Ecuadorian Citizen from south america though i have been living in the united states since i was 5 years old with a valid green card. I plan to move to japan with my friend who is a US citizen. I really plan on becoming a permanent resident of japan. Would it be easier to find a job at my age with really not much of a degree but hospitality management experience and an A+ Certification for computer repair? Since i am not a us citizen would i still need a working visa? Will my friend have a better chance than me since he is a US citizen? please help.
also, would you know some good sites on the web that can sponser me for a job in japan? thank you again for your help
Hi,
I went to Japan last month for a teaching English job and got the most extreme culture shock. I hadn’t prepapred myself at all.
I ended up coming home, I just went without talking to anyone about it.
It seems strange because looking back everything was more or less perfect, although teaching children is something i might want to avoid in future.
Anyway, they were sorting out a sponsored visa for me (it wasn’t actually finished when I was teaching).
Will it be possible to get another work visa? I want to try again after Christmas (with another school) and am just wondering what sort of complications may arise.
Hello,
I am planning to visit Japan for two weeks. I am a Chinese citizen and holder of an U.S. Green Card.
1) Do I need to obtain a visa?
2) If I do, will it be easy? As in, do people in my situation usually have difficulties obtaining a visiting visa?

I am an English teacher, and recently applied for a visa renewal on 22 December. My company is willing to sponsor me, and i have worked for the company since October. I first came to Japan in January 2005.
However, immigration have not sent my postcard yet, and two things concern me.
I split from my previous employer (a dishonest one) very acrimoniously last May, did little work btween June and September and this previous employer resolutely refuses my request for a letter of release etc… Do you think this will be detrimental to my application? And is there any real support for vulnerable, but honest gaijins in Japan.
Yours sincerely
Tony

Hello,
I must regret.. nah I really dont regret, that I am your typical redneck farmboy that lives in the U.S. I totally despise this country and the things it is doing. I was in the Air Force and was stationed in Fussa Japan, but after getting the boot, they gave me 72 hours to go back to my hometown, so i had no time to do research. At this point, every time I talk to someone and express my feelings, they always say “well, then if u dont like this country then just leave.” Well, my response has always been that I would love to, but no one is willing to accept a US citizen.
Point being, I really want to live in Japan permanently. I am still in the US as of current and have no idea on how to get to Japan permanently. The only lead I might have is a long lost girlfriend in Akishima who still loves me.
My question now… How the heck can I get to Japan and stay there and relinquish citizenship here in the US?
I wish it was so easy to maybe everyone in the world be issued a citizenship card kinda like a vehicle title, and maybe trade citizenship for citizenship.
BTW, if anyone would like to severely and seriously help me, im sure someone officially from this website is reading this, please give that person my email so i can get the heck outta this place!!!!!
nah, even easier.. serious inquiries only.. if you can get me a legal one-way ticket to tokyo, email me at illini_trucker@yahoo.com
I AM NOT KIDDING!!
