Das suvra jyoti and Ghulam Abass, if you have a visa that allows you to work full-time, then your wife should be able to obtain a dependent visa just be applying for one. Ghulam Abass, your children are too old to qualify for dependent visas, so they will have to try to get visas on their own if they want to stay.

    Hello Bennet,
I am intending to do doctoral studies through monbukagakusho scholarship there. I understand that my wife also can come there on a dependent visa. She is a Masters degree holder. Will she be allowed to work there?
    Thank you very much,
    Anoop

Nicole, once you are married your husband should apply for a dependent visa. He will most likely need to produce proof of marriage, and also proof that you have a visa. I’m not sure of the exact procedure, but his local Japanese embassy will hopefully be able to give some pointers.

Anoop, a dependent visa does not allow work. It may be possible for her to apply for permission to work part-time, but she will have to wait until she has the visa and is in Japan for that.

Samim, you should be able to apply for a dependent visa if your wife has a College Student visa. I don’t know the procedure for doing this from Nepal.

Adee, as far as I know dependent visas are available only for spouses and children, not cousins.

You can normally get a dependent visa for your husband or wife. You can also get it for your child if the child is under 18 years old. But Anu, you can’t normally get a dependent visa for your mother.
