Not as much as you think, probably. Generally, old (more than 5 years) limited edition releases may be worth more than you paid if they are in mint condition. Don’t be fooled by exorbitant prices in record shops; it’s easy to slap a $100 price tag on a record, but much harder to actually find somebody willing to pay that much.
Particularly rare Erasure recordings include the limited Heavenly Action 12″ and the Crackers International II limited CD and 12″.

hay i was just wondering ive recently been sold a few vinyls i have come accreoss a rather odd one its multi coloured and just looks like someone has thrown multicoloured paint over it… it is called david and galiath and is set at 78 rpm is this weird and how much is it willing to be worth i think its acctualy the story of it on a 7 inch vynil as it says narated byedmond blakemen so i think it may well be the story .. also it says that it it includes full cast and orchestra so wot do you think this will be worth thanks for your yime daz

Interesting question — and an interesting record you have there! Sounds like what they call “speckled” vinyl. It doesn’t sound especially valuable unless there’s an Edward Blakeman Fan Club or something similar.
Hmm, a 78RPM 7″ single? That would have to be pretty short, no more than a few minutes. Strange. And presumably, not related to Erasure in any way. Nice diversion anyway.

May 26th, 2006 at 8:52 pm

Not related to Erasure, but thought I’d pick your brains… Bought a punk EP at auction; when I opened it the record was correct but the centre label was weird. The label should have been “Cherry Red” (UK), but this one was all French “Societe Nouvelle Areacem Echantillon” with no mention of the artist or EP title. Hand-written in ballpoint ink “12 Cherry 82″ on one side plus some other writing I cannot decipher. A friend suggested this may be a test pressing. Is this a rare and/or valuable type of vinyl record?
June 4th, 2006 at 8:31 pm
That punk EP does sound like a test pressing. Probably rare, but not necessarily valuable. An Erasure test pressing, on the other hand, would be worth a dollar or two…

I have a record by Lester Tipton and I was looking up Lester Tipton and I saw his song “This Won’t Change” sold for $7,000 and another copy sold for $6,500 on Ebay. HELLO EVERYONE!!! SEEMS TO BE ALOT OF PEOPLE LOOKIN FOR VINYL ANSWERS. I BELIEVE ON EVERY VINYL RECORD THERE IS A NUMBER ETCHED IN THE RUNOUT/WAXOUT (SHINY AREA AROUND LABEL) AND USUALLY ON THE SPINE OF THE COVER. WRITE THE NUMBERS DOWN AND GO TO
discogs.com, AND ENTER THE NUMBERS IN THE SEARCH. NUMBERS ARE ALL DIFFERENT, SOME LOOK LIKE “BS2868, OR OC2-1514, SOMETIMES YOU DON’T EVEN NEED TO USE THE LETTERS JUST THE NUMBER, IF THAT DOESN’T WORK, ENTER “MOTT THE HOOPLE” OR WHATEVER YOUR ARTIST IS AND IT WILL BRING THEM UP. KEEP AN EYE OUT WHILE ON THE PAGE USUALLY AT THE BOTTOM OF THE ALBUM DESCRIPTION AFTER “PRODUCED BY” IF THERE ARE ANY FOR SALE IT WILL SAY “# FOR SALE ON DISCOGS. ANOTHER SITE IS “wikipedia.com”, THAT SITE GIVES YOU MOSTLY HISTORY,DISCOGRAPHY, AND SO ON. GOOD LUCK Y’ALL, HOPE THIS HELPS!!!

Dear sir,
I am in possession of three early albums by the band “Mott The Hoople”, signed by Ian Hunter, the lead singer, and various members of his group.
I would be interested to learn their approximate value, bearing in mind the fact that Ian Hunter and Mott curently enjoy a good deal of retrospective appeal/fame.

Hi there, I recently came across some old records still in the original USPS postal packaging and I am interested in the value of them, I’m hoping maybe you can help me out. The actual records themselves appear to be in sets of 3 and all 10 sets that I have are produced by County Music Cavalcade. (Return shipping address is 6 Commercial Street Hicksville, New York, 11801) One particular record features songs like “The fool” Stanford Clark, “I never pick cotton” Roy Clark, “Rhinestone Rings” Memphis Blue, “No one will ever know” Jimmy Rogers, the next record has the following songs… “Funny Face” Donna Fargo, “Suzie Darlin” Robin Luke, “Deck of Cards” Wink Martindale each set says “A Candelite Treasury created by Wesley T. Wood and Wayne Stierle” 1978CMI. So with the information that I have given, is it possible to give me a ballpark value of them by any chance? If not, perhaps you know of a website that possibly could? Please let me know if its not too much trouble! Thank you for your time! Much Appreciated!

i have an original pink floyd the wall LP. it’s says promotional use only, for cbs radio station not for resale printed in gold lettering on the back. On the front there is a sticker with all of the songs, the actual logo is a sticker and its above the sticker and says pink floyd the wall. I’m curious how much an album like this is worth, I know that original wall albums can be as much as 50 dollars.

I have a “MAN ON THE MOON” 45. It has a signature on a separate piece of paper. The letter head is “KTHV 11″ B.G. Robertson — Vice President & General Manager.
It’s hard to make out the signature. Obviously Mr. Robertson collected this record with a signature of somebody who must have been important.
Any guesses or info?
